An increasingly rare, gorgeous compact coffee or ‘tray table’ from Ercol, produced between 1961-1970; it is hard to find them in a blonde finish.
This particular piece has been lovingly refinished: the English elm top and beech frame have been sanded back to bare wood, carefully smoothed by increasing grades of sandpaper, and then given three coats of Danish oil to penetrate and enhance the grain. After this a top coat of clear wax has been applied for protection and added sheen.
An ideal table for smaller spaces, it measures 17.5in high, 28.5in wide and 17.5in deep.
The thoughtful handles at each end make it very easy to move around as needed, and the useful lower shelf lets you tidy away those bits and pieces, whilst still keeping them handy. Another classic piece of Ercol design! The magazine strip has been removed from one edge of the lower shelf – this in no way detracts from the look or function of the table.
