An increasingly rare treat from highly regarded retailer, Heals of London, we are delighted to bring you an oak framed recliner easy chair from their 1933 catalogue – “Economy – with a difference at Heals”.
Capturing the key elements of the art deco movement, this style of chair continues to be in demand by aficionados. The bentwood oak frame is engineered to produce signature curves, whilst beautiful touches such as ball feet at the front of the frame offer subtle nods to the period.
The chair reclines by way of a sliding seat and back that is effortless and supremely comfortable for the sitter, and has been fitted with brand new loose cushions, as is the intended layout for such a piece.
The oak frame has been sympathetically restored, treated with oil to nourish and reinvigorate the wood, and then waxed to provide a pleasing, tactile finish.
In honour of the wonderful life it has lived so far, the frame may have some small historic marks, but the overall chair is as strong and sturdy as the day it left the Heals showroom.
