Sourced from a family who had “used it in our farmhouse kitchen for over 50 years” here we have a simply super, family-sized refectory table in the manner of Heals, London. Comprising a lovely Oak table top with an unique and attractive shape – not the run of the mill rectangular table here – it will easily seat 6 for meals.
The table top has been stripped back and refinished, with generous oiling to nourish the wood, and bring out that superb grain. The delightful contrasting chamfered beaded edges have also been refinished, before being sealed with 3 coats of finishing wax for a super smooth surface.
The supporting frame is Beech and just as with the unusual shaping of the table top, has its own unique appeal. The turned legs angle in from the table top down to the floor, creating a wonderful symmetry and very elegant lines; a beautiful silhouette. The legs finish on turned supports splaying gracefully, and are reinforced with a stretcher.
The overall design is such that 6 chairs can be easily tucked underneath, and with the combination of that table top with its delicately angled edges, and the slinky silhouette of that frame, this table is sure to put a smile on your face every time you see it.
