This week at Happy Chair Home, we’ve been adding to our Curios collection;
This vintage Optician’s Light (also known as a Fan and Block chart) was salvaged from an opticians in Northamptonshire and is believed to be over 60 years old.
Wall mountable or, due to the little feet underneath, it can also be displayed as freestanding.
Each of the lights work, operated by the remote control which hangs neatly on the side when not in use (using it’s original hanging peg.) Some of the buttons can be a little stiff, although the piece as a whole is in excellent vintage condition.
A brilliant conversation piece and fun bit of industrial cool – personally, we think the fan light makes a smiley face!
Next up we have something you certainly don’t see every day;
Designed for the treatment of ‘hysteria’, this electro-pneumatic massager is essentially a vintage vibrator, used by doctors to alleviate women’s ‘hysterical symptoms’. No longer in working order (the wiring is damaged) it does however have a complete set of attachments, displayed in the lid.
Quite the conversation starter! On a side note, who else remembers Masters Of Sex, with Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan? Brilliant show!
A few more conventional items will be hitting the website soon – chairs and sideboards and the like – but we’ll try to keep things interesting!
Have a great week vintage lovers,
