Strongly reminiscent of the classic designs of Fritz Hansen, this wonderful vintage Danish armchair benefits from gorgeously sweeping arms, extensive button detailing, and gently curved wings, creating a stylish and very comfortable seat.
The original boucle wool upholstery is in very good condition, showing only some very minor wear, as to be expected with age. This chair came directly from a home in Denmark, where it had resided since the 1940s, and so we really wanted to change as little as possible. Therefore, a gentle clean of the fabric, some very minor repairs, and a subtle refinishing of the sweeping beech arms were all that was needed to bring this beautiful chair up to tip top shape. The fully sprung seat provides generous comfort and support and is a great indication of the craftsmanship involved in the making of this chair.
Whilst we believe the chair to be a Fritz Hansen design (purchased from the same household that supplied a Fritz Hansen chair that we are currently working on), we are awaiting confirmation from Fritz Hansen themselves. But in the meantime, it is undoubtedly a beautifully made example of Danish furniture design.
