Large Bank of 12 Drawers, circa 1950s

A lovely piece of furniture from the 1950s, this vintage set of 12 drawers originally came from the offices of a bank in Pembrokeshire.

Each of the drawers features solid beech fronts and dovetail joints, with shaped solid wood sides as seen in the pictures. All drawers are running smoothly into the solid cabinet.

The top drawer on each vertical run is lockable (key present!) and doing so locks the three drawers beneath too; a nice feature. The brass locks are in lovely working condition. As an added feature – they were from a bank after all – the locking mechanism at the back of each “run” can be reset manually.

As can be seen in the photos the drawers carry their original brass nameplate, and cast metal pull handles. These have been cleaned but retain a lovely patina.

The cabinet top has the original vinyl, which carries some marks from its long life – please do see the photos. The front edge of the top is teak, and the sides appear to be a slightly later addition; the sides of the top match together well.

A black kickboard helps to “frame” the look of the cabinet.

The whole piece has been sympathetically cleaned and retains a lovely patina throughout and we are sure that this piece would work equally well in a domestic or business setting.
