Happy chair home are delighted to present this iconic piece of furniture designed by the celebrated Danish designer Hans Wegner. Often described as being modernist in approach, Wegner was known for the clean lines and ergonomics that characterise many of his designs.
This rare J16 rocking chair is a highly collectable piece and looks stunning from all angles. Sourced directly from the only owner, the frame is solid beech and finished with the original black lacquer. The seat is hand woven in paper cord, and both frame and seat are in wonderful condition. As can be seen in the many pictures the chair has only minimal signs of wear to the original black finish and signs of use commensurate with age; a chair that has not been messed about, repainted, or refinished.
It is stamped to the underside of the left arm, made in Denmark, manufactured by FDB Mobler, and date stamped to 1970.
It is an absolute cracker for 51 years old!
